Fancy Buckle Bangle
This buckle bangle is special because it features an ornate buckle and studs around the perimeter of the strap. Most buckles on victorian bangles are made much more simply. Five petaled flowers entwined in foliage sit on either side of the belt, and a wavy line with dots adorn the upper and lower edges of the bangle. The belt strap also has an engraved designed, which is filed in with vertical lines. Victorian bangles were made to have a fairly snug fit, as you can see in paintings and surviving jewelry of the time. The patina is incredible and adds a sense of depth and shade to the bangle, but I can polish it up if you’d prefer.
ca. 1880
Hallmarked: Silver
Internal diameters: 2 1/4” x 2”
