This tray is made with a decoration technique called mishima which is used a lot in my work. The leather hard porcelain is engraved with a needle tool, and after bisquing, black slip is applied over the surface and the excess is removed with a damp sponge. what remains are finely inlaid lines and a subtle texture in the final result.
